God as Saviour

From doom to groom: the God who rescues us into an eternal relationship.

Wouldn't you love a God who wants to be your savior?

Imagine a God as savior. Let's think about Him.

The Lamb and the Lion

He's the lamb. Now, a lamb has to be slain and it has to be innocent, right? I need a God who loves me enough to act as my savior.

Now, a lion can also deliver, right? He can deliver me from any adversary. I need a savior who's strong as a king who can command, right? He can write the rules and he can break and rewrite the laws.

The Servant Savior

I need a God who can save me who is willing to humble Himself to become a servant. Now, servant and savior don't seem like they go together. But if you don't serve the people, how then are you going to have compassion to rescue them?

God came down and He heard the cries of His people. He has been a servant. He has suffered in my place and therefore He can have compassion on them who are out of the way.

My Brother, My Friend

He is my brother. He has strong empathy for my condition, right? And He wants to provide that closeness of proximity that only a brother... We have a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

He's my burden bearer. He sees my pressure and He wants to carry my load, right?

The Meaning of Savior

Now the word savior means to save, to rescue. I just, I need someone to rescue me from my sinful position and my condition.

He's the way. He's the direction signage. He's the way finder. He tells me how to get to God. And He's the light. He's my guide, right? He can help me see where we're going.

Everlasting Salvation

God saves me and when He provides salvation, it's enduring. It's everlasting. Ever. Everlast. He's the original boxer. Everlasting.

When God saves us, He saves us into satisfaction. He provides satiate or, you know, there's nothing else. There's just, there's nothing else that can compare to the level of God's satisfaction.

He's my comforter. He's also the Prince of peace. When He saves us, He saves us away from war, away from chaos. Can't spell chaos.

The Lord Our Righteousness

So, He's the Lord our righteousness and I don't think God would hurt me if I filled in this blank. The Lord our pure righteousness, the Lord our good righteousness, the Lord our eternal righteousness, the Lord our heavenly righteousness.

So to be a Savior, I need God's righteousness deposited on my record. I need Him to put His record in place of my record so that I can be reconciled to God.

From Doom to Groom

God, as my Savior, says, "I will take you from a life of doom and I will be your groom." I will unite and will put a ring on your finger. I will be your eternal groom and we will be married which is amazing.

Living in Anticipation

He wants us to live in anticipation of His saving power. He wants us to be excited about His coming, right? We need to anticipate the arrival of our savior.

He's coming to rescue us, which means apart from Him, I fall. I am in danger. I need a great rescue, deliverance to deliver me from evil. I am in a very bad position and I need a God who's going to save me and deliver me and I need to get out of here, right?

So, I need to escape this present world and be in His presence. I've got to get out of this nature and I need to taste and experience the divine nature.

Significantly Better

God, throughout the book of Hebrews, presents Himself as significantly better than any other savior.

So, He's significantly better than angels. He's significantly better then sacrifice. He's significantly better than the priesthood. He's significantly better than the first covenant. He's significantly better than the old way. He's significantly better than any other alternative. He's significantly better than Abraham. He's better than the law. He's... God is better.

He's my savior because He surpasses the old system. And He's explaining Himself better and better so that I can trust Him more and more.

Born for This Time

Perhaps we were born towards the end of the world because we couldn't have exercised faith in these limited things that were just foreshadows to get us to the point where we could see a direct line to the Savior. Maybe we're the generation that needs more evidence.

Fulfilled Promises and Obligations

God as my Savior means He fulfilled the promise for me. He fulfilled the expectations. You know, God has very high expectations for those who come to Him. And I need a Savior who steps in to fulfill my obligations. You know, OBJ obligations.

I had... If I was obligated to dispel, I wouldn't be able to get into the heaven. Obligated. He fulfilled my missing parts.

Emmanuel - God With Us

He's Emmanuel. He's God with us. He's God in the flesh. Emmanuel, a savior, come down from heaven to prove that He's willing to die on the cross. God in the flesh dying for us.

The Author of Eternal Salvation

He is the author of eternal salvation. He became the author of eternal salvation. He didn't just come up with the idea. He ever liveth to finish, to intercede.

He's my eternal savior. He started the idea. He'll finish the idea. He continues the idea. He's my intercessor and He's the author and I can believe Him.

I can believe the book that He wrote because I trust the God that He is.
