Everyone’s unique contribution to gospel distribution is recognized.
Some just glow.
Some say “Merry Christmas!”
Some of us invite our neighbors to a Christmas presentation … aka concert / cantada / play at our local assembly.
Some knock ✊🏾 the block with door 🚪 hangers, invitations on doorknobs. Some families give out pies 🥧 or homemade goodies along with a gospel tract to their neighbors this time of year.
Some are comfortable with mentioning the name of Jesus more frequently … especially around the holidays, which tend to celebrate Christ … or shopping. And since the economy is not that great right now, more people are pondering the possibility of spirituality. :) To give this holiday some meaning.
Whatever your method, let’s be watering.
We all water.
1 Corinthians 3:6 “I have planted, Apollos WATERED; but God gave the increase.”
Little drops of water,
Little grains of sand,
Fill the mighty oceans,
And the pleasant land!
Drips 💧 of tenderness along life’s way today.
Drops 💦 of the Spirit. Bring a Spirit-filled spirit with you!
How does the Gospel go forth?
Gradually.
Steadily.
Humanly.
Through the natural course of life.
Through our vocal cords.
Through our countenance and disposition.
Through our hands and feet in active service.
How many human interactions does the normal person experience on a daily basis? Maybe a moderate number. Something reasonable. We may see a couple customers, if we work in retail. One might only see a few business contacts, if he drives a delivery truck. Another might only venture out the the local grocery store and interact with a familiar-faced cashier.
We believe … believers carry something with us every day. People can sense it.
Believers are designed to be filled. So filled indeed, that we are overflowing.
Carrying something to a thirsty world.
We need a refill every morning ☕️. :) Right?
Life is great, please add caffeine.
Sharing Christ is positive, please add Spirit power.
Isaiah 58:11 “And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a SPRING of water, whose waters FAIL NOT.”
Believers are buckets of blessings to slosh on all around us. Sir Slosh-a-lot.
John 7:38 “He that believeth on Me [Jesus speaking], as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.”
Camina, Camina, Camina, come on now!
Flowing.
Rivers … plural.
More than one river.
Please read the verse twice to absorb the maximum meaning.
“He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow RIVERS of living water.”
Implication: the believer taps into a Divine Source of spiritual Water.
Belly … Rivers. What an interesting word picture! Be the belly river.
Belly definition here means: the innermost part of a human, the soul, my heart as the seat of thought, feeling, and choice.
Out of one’s belly …
Shall flow … steadily running water from a deep and endless Source, notably flowing FROM above and from beyond one’s self-capacity.
Nobody carries this much water naturally. :)
Rivers are not designed for containment within, but for outflow sharing with multitudes.
From the inmost man, there must be an outward flow. That outflow syndicates, and indicates an inward presence. There’s more than just one person inside a believer. There’s Someone else assisting in the composition and choreography. The river-giver Himself.
Me … no river.
Me KNOWS the River. :)
Dear Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, please use this humble vessel as Your water-flow channel to satisfy the thirst of multitudes. :)
God is looking for someone to flow THROUGH. And someone to flow UNTO. God will connect a flow-er to a thirsty audience. He says in Isaiah 44:3, “For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty.”
Isaiah 32:2 “And a man shall be as … rivers of water in a dry place, …”
Isaiah 43:19 “Behold, I will do a new thing; … rivers in the desert.”
Ezekiel 32:14 “Then will I make their waters deep, and cause their rivers to run like oil, saith the Lord GOD.”
Notice the plurality. Waters, rivers.
Rivers refers primarily to the copiousness of quantity, and indirectly also of the diffusiveness of this living water pervasively spreading across the land to the lasting benefit of others. Can you see it smell it taste it believe it?
His Spirit indwelling ensures unfailing flow.
Boundless. Beyond the normal drizzle. Multiple rivers flowing forth from above through the Spirit through the inner man out into the world.
John chapter 7. Let’s picture it now:
“In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the Scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living waters. (But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)”
John 4:11 “The woman saith unto Him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast Thou that living water?”
John 4:10 “Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and Who it is that saith to thee, Give Me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of Him, and He would have given thee living water.”
Jesus was simply explaining to the lady … “Lady, I am the Source of Living Waters!”
